How to download clips for mashing

To download any video clip from Mash Pit Comedy first you have to log in (or Sign Up if you’re not a member yet).

Then on the video watching page for the clip you want to download click on the MASH tab featured below the video viewing player. Click on either DOWNLOAD FOR MAC if you’re a Mac user (downloads a .mov file) or DOWNLOAD FOR WINDOWS if you’re a PC user (downloads an .avi file).

Viewing clips on your computer

When you download clips from the website don't freak out if the downloaded video looks stretched when playing it back within your chosen media player or your video editing software. We here at Mash Pit Comedy HQ have a cunning plan! And it’s all about getting your stuff on TV in a format that looks good!

From web to TV

Ideally, for the TV show, we want stuff that is widescreen with no letter boxing. But we also don't want you to get swamped by technical jibber-jabber. So we have designed our website to upload and view video in its native format... to give the best web viewing experience possible.

But when you download video from the Mash Pit Comedy site it will conform to the widescreen format (16:9). This means that video with a native format of 4:3 will look a bit fatter. But it will mean that all video clips from the site will be in the same aspect ratio – which makes it easier for you to mash various clips together to create a new clip of comedy gold.

Just do it!

If you have to use video that does not meet all of the technical requirements... but it’s just so funny you have to share it... go on still upload it to the Mash Pit Comedy site. Just be warned, if it’s not quite technically correct it might not get on TV. But we’ll still find it funny!
