Shooting Video

Shoot your video in ‘progressive’ mode (not interlaced)

Shoot your video full screen(no letter-boxing). If you’ve got a widescreen camera, shoot full widescreen.

Encode format

H.264

Frame rate

25 fps

Data Rate

Restrict data rate to 2,000 kbit/s

Aspect Ratio

Native Aspect Ratio, without any letter-boxing:
Wide Screen (16:9) = 1024x576 pixels
Non-widescreen (4:3) = 720x576 pixels

De-interlace

De-interlace your video when exporting, if your video editing software has this option.

Video Formats

You can upload a wide range of video formats, eg:

.wmv
.avi
.mov
.mpg (or .mpeg)
.3gp

Audio settings

Format = AAC or MP3
Stereo (L R)
Rate = 44.100 KHZ
Quality = Best
Encoding = VBR (variable bit rate)
Bit Rate = 192

These settings will create a video file that is:

  • small enough to easily upload to Mash Pit Comedy
  • of sufficient quality so the clips can be mashed by others and be broadcast on TV.
